Commercial Roofing Process

Flat roofing and sloped systems for commercial buildings

Flat Roofs include built-up roofing and single-ply

"Built-up-Roofing", is simply a roof consisting of multiple layers of laminated roof felts fused togther with bitumen. Single-ply systems consists of a single membrane over the top of insulation. The average surface life of a built-up roof system is 20 to 40 years.

The flat roof construction process for the ballasted flat roof involves an initial loose laying of the membrane over the roofs surface, which is then sealed at all penetrations tightly around the perimiter, and then covered in ballast to hold it in place. Another flat roof process is known as adhered. This is the use of an advanced adhesive to bond the roof to the insulation layer. The last flat roof process involves a mechanically fastened roof which attaches the membranes directly to the roof deck using screws and plates to secure the seams around the perimiter.

Sloped Roofs provide more options and process available to commercial buildings.
