Ledegar Roofing Recognized as a Veteran-Owned Business
Nov 09, 2015
The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs recently honored Ledegar Roofing Company with the distinction of being classified as a Veteran-Owned Small Business.
Owner Dan Koonce is a Vietnam Veteran and served with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Koonce has been an owner since 1996 and became the sole owner earlier this year, qualifying Ledegar Roofing for this honor.
Ledegar Roofing Company has strived to be a support to local veterans and their families, sponsoring events like the La Crosse area’s American Legion Auxiliary Walk Run Roll, among others, and offering discounts to active military, veterans and retirees.
“We also make an effort to hire those that have served and are currently active. Ledegar has connected with federal and state agencies to reach those in the military looking for work. We offer flexibility in scheduling to those who are still bravely serving our country,” states Dan Koonce.
One of the benefits of being classified as a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) is being eligible for the participation in the Vets First Contracting Program. “The Veteran business owner and the Government mutually benefit from this program. Upon approval, the Program Participant has documented proof of eligibility. This gives confidence to VA that set-asides are being awarded to legitimate firms owned and controlled by Veterans or Service-Connected Disabled Veterans. This helps stimulate the small business community and create growth for the economy.” Learn more about the Vets First Contracting Program here.
